June 5th 2010- The karting season has begun and so far the boys have done very well.  Joshua has won everytime
out on the purple plate kart and Jarrett has really run well picking up a couple wins.  Joshua has also been
competing in the Jr. Boxstock class with a new kart and is starting to get it dialed in.  Big Josh is just about finished
putting the new Pro-Truck together.  We hope to have it out in a few weeks.  Thanks to everyone who has come out
to watch and support the raceteam.

December 20th 2009-  Well the season has come and gone.  Joshua did really well in go-carts and will start the year
in go-karts then we will make the switch to cars.  Jarrett has also decided to race go-karts this year so we will keep
you posted on his progress.  Big Josh is getting his car ready for the 2010 season.  He plans to run on a regular basis
so come on out and join us.  Both the boys are currently playing basketball so once the season is over we will turn
our focus to racing.  Thanks for you interest in Hughes Racing and have a Merry Christmas.....

August 13, 2009 - Going to try and catch everyone up on things.  Lil Josh has been doing well in the go-carts.  He has
gotten alot of seat time and seems to be ready to move on into Bandolaros.  We took him to Florida on the 1st to
Maxville.  He ran some good practice laps then bad weather forced race officials to cancel.  Big Josh broke a motor
back in July at Lanier in practice.  He is in the middle of putting it back together.  Football has started and Joshua is
loving every minute of it.  He works really hard and has alot of fun.  Jarrett is waiting for basketball to start which
wont be long.  Feel free to leave us a comment or just say hello.  See ya at the races.......

May 17,2009 -  Well we have still been racing karts and will try and catch everyone up on things.  Joshua won 2 races
in the beginner purple class and we moved him into purple.  Then we decided to get him a new kart.  So he now has
a 09 ultramax and we made his old Shadow a Jr. Boxstock.  Last week he got the pole and finished second in the
boxstock class.  This week he ran very well in practice on both karts but weather forced track officials to cancel the
event.  We also want thank Emma's Attic for sponsoring Joshua and are looking for more if anyone is  interested.
Josh Sr. is starting to work on getting his car ready so hopefully he will be at the track soon.  Jarrett is finally finished
with T-Ball he had an awesome year and is ready for basketball.  Danyel has been busy keeping things together for
us at Hughes Racing we couldn't do it without her.  Hope to see you at the races.............

March 21, 2009 - We headed back to
Dawgwood this weekend.  The weather was nice and Joshua was chomping at
the bit to hit the track.  He lined up to practice and as he sat there with the motor running the head gasket blew.  We
replaced it and he went out and turned some pretty good laps.  We changed the gear and got it pretty close.  He went
out and qualified on the pole.  Not bad for his first time racing carts.  It was time for the feature and he was excited.
The green flag dropped and he quickly pulled away from the others.  He continued to lead and turned some pretty
impressive laps.  The checkered flew and he was grinning ear to ear.  Way to go Joshua!!!  We are working to get his
times up so that he can move up to the next class.  It wont be long at this rate.  Meanwhile Josh and Danyel each
took to the track as well.  Big Josh ran the box stock heavy class and qualified 6th.  He ended up 5th in the race and
had a blast.  Danyel had a good run going in the box stock lite class.  She had a 4th place run going and tried a move
on the outside but got freight trained on the last lap.  She ended up 5th or 6th was not sure exactly.  We will now
focus our attention to our next race.  We are planning a trip to Danielsville, Ga. Checkered Flag speedway.  We will
keep the website updated on our finishes.  Way to go Joshua on your first win in go-carts mom and dad are proud of
you...

March 7, 2009- Well after a long winter we finally hit the track for some practice.  We went to Chatsworth, Ga. to turn
some laps on the 7th.  It was Joshua's first time racing a go-cart and he looked like an experienced driver.  It was a
warm day and the track dried out so he was pretty fast for the first time.  Josh and Danyel also have a go-cart as they
are competing in the box stock division.  Its an affordable fun class and it helps us with setups on Joshua's cart.  Our
next race will be March 21st. at
Dawgwood (Chatsworth).  Come on out and join the fun......

December 31 - Well it's been another good year for the Hughes family. Joshua and Jarrett had a wonderful christmas.
Big Josh and Danyel too. Hopefully 2009 is just as good or better. Lil Josh is ready for the racing season to start. He's
chomping at the bit to go racing. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a good and safe New Year!

October 1 - Just wanted to catch everyone up on things.  We haven't been doing to much racing lately... Joshua Jr. is
still playing football and Jarrett just started basketball.. We are coaching Jarrett's team and start games Oct. 4th.   We
did however squeeze a race in Saturday, September 27 at Lanier for the Georgia St. Championships... Josh Sr. won it
in 2007 and wanted to defend the title. The race got started and Josh went to the outside to take the lead. He went
door handle to door handle with the #8 car... They battled each other the entire race never making contact and it
came down to the last lap when Josh drove in to turn 3 a little to deep on the inside and got the car loose. He stayed
in the gas but came up short at the finish. Josh said he had a blast racing that close and has a lot of respect for
drivers who run him clean.  There are no current races planned but we will start getting things ready this winter for
next season. Thanks to all that supported us in 2008 and we will see you again soon....

August 16 - A good night at Lanier Speedway. With some adjustments made to the car Josh Sr. started on the pole
and took it to the finish with a WIN! Good Job Josh!!!

August 9 - What a day at the races. First Josh Jr. raced his Quarter Midget at MAQMA. We battled with the handling of
the car all night at practice and all day at the races. Josh Jr. finished 2nd in his heat. But didn't get so lucky in his
main. Better Luck next time.
Josh Sr. had a really exciting night at Lanier Speedway. He started on the rear of his feature. When the green flag
dropped he went right to second.  He battled for the lead for four laps and the leader kept chopping him off so Josh
finally spun him and they went to the back. Lanier has had low car counts so the back of the pack was not far. The
idiot that was spun kept brake checking Josh during the caution and when the green flag dropped Josh got a bad
start and he got away. Once the race was over, once again the idiot stopped after the checkered flew to start with
Josh again and Josh slammed into his passenger door. WAY TO GO JOSH!!!!!  This idiot is a non-driving problem
where ever he goes.  Josh has many years of racing and knows how to handle these situations. Maybe this idiot will
learn he is barking up the wrong tree. So if you want to watch a demo derby then find out where this idiot is gonna
be racing (a junky blue & yellow #2 you won't be able to read the number on the right side).  Now we will be focusing
on Josh Jr. as he sets out to try his new go-cart. Thanks to all our fans who came out to support us and see you
soon.............

August - What busy summer it has been with the Hughes Racing Family. Josh Jr. got his new go kart and is very
excited about getting ready to race it. Josh Jr. has also started football practice during the week. Jarrett has just
started Kindergarten and man is he a "BIG SHOT" now :) We visited some friends in Florida the 1st weekend in
August and what an exciting trip. We got to meet Urban Meyer "Florida Gator Football Coach", the boys were very
excited!

July 3-5 - We finally made it back out to the track... FIrst Josh Sr. went to practice his car. Things went pretty well but
the car is still not 100 percent.  Then we packed up and went up to the quarter midget track so Jr. could practice. He
turned some pretty good lap times so he was excited.  Friday morning we got up and got things ready for the
Braselton 4th of July parade.  The kids put there racecars on the floats and had a blast throwing candy out to all the
bystanders... Then we went back to the track to get ready for Sr. to race.  He started on the pole but could only hold
the lead for the first few laps. The handling on the car was just not enough to keep it out front and had to settle for
2nd.  Then we packed up and got ready for Jr. to race Sat... He Started 7th and ended up 4th in the heat race. They
inverted the top 4 so that put him on the pole for the main. He took the green and stayed in the top 3 for half the race
and eventually dropped to 4th. With 11 laps to go he was spun by the 5th place car and he ended up finishing 6th. So
overall we had a fun weekend....... Plans are in the works for Josh Jr. to run some go-cart races in the near
future..Keep checking often and hope to see you at the races.................................

June 25 - Right now Josh Jr. is at summer camp in Florida. He is having a lot of fun. Even though he had to miss a
race, his thumb has healed without any problems. Meanwhile, we are getting ready for the 4th of July Parade and
Josh Jr.'s race on the 5th. Josh Jr. will be in the Braselton, GA parade with other MAQMA drivers. The next day, with
his fresh motor, Josh Jr. will be racing at MAQMA.

May 17 - Josh Jr. raced his Quarter Midget at MAQMA. He started the day off bad having an accident on his rip stick,
but still wanted to race even though his thumb was hurting. He did good in his heat and finished 5th in his main,
without any accidents. He is in need of a fresh motor. A couple days later we came to discover that Joshua fractured
his thumb and will have to sit out for 3 weeks. Better luck next time.

May 10 - Josh Sr. was back out again with a new motor at
Lanier Speedway. Starting on the outside front row. He
took the lead when the green flag dropped and had another win in sight. But with just 5 laps remaining he was
intentionally spun by Bryan Beckner coming out of turn 2. Even though it wasn't Josh's fault he and Bryan were sent
to the rear. This really upset Josh Jr. and Jarrett because they liked Bryan and for him to intentionally wreck their
dad was heartbreaking. Bryan has a history of wrecking people. Just the night before he was disqualified at
Anderson Speedway for retaliating after the race! There is a way to race and that is not it, he needed to be in a
demolition derby not a race. For he could really hurt someone driving like that. On the restart both Josh and Bryan
were going into the turn and once again Bryan intentionally drove Josh Sr. up into the wall. Really damaging our
car!!!  Josh Sr. let his temper get the best of him and was asked to leave the track. With the help of others, Danyel
and the kids were trying to load the car. Well here comes Bryan after going through tech and parking right behind our
pit when his pit was not near ours. The officials had to ask him to leave for he should not be there to start another
fight with Danyel and the kids. It's one thing to wreck a man's car, but don't taunt his kids and wife too!!! Drivers like
Bryan are the reason we do not like to compete in that division.. Bryan must be frustrated because he cant win so he
is wrecking anyone he can.  We will keep everyone posted on the outcome of this incident because its not over...

April 19 - What a victory for Josh Jr.! He raced his 3rd race in Jr. Honda at MAQMA and finished 3rd. It really helped
boost his confidence, and he is wanting to try even harder now. He is really learning a lot and is getting more
consistent. We have worked really hard and will continue to do so........Good luck May 17.........

April 12 - After a lot of work and practice. Josh Jr. was back racing his 2nd race in Jr. Honda at
MAQMA. He tried very
hard and was very nervous from his previous race. But after his 3rd caution Josh Jr. had to come off the track. Better
Luck next time...

March 22- Well it was back to the track this time to unleash Josh Jr. on the concrete at Lanier...We started out Friday
evening with some practice and he did really well so felt good going into Saturday..There was nine cars that were
set to qualify and Joshua had to start at the rear being his first race in Jr. Honda.. When the green flag fell he was
doing really well.. There was several yellow flags and he was running in the sixth position when a car went to the
inside of him going into turn three..He did not realize he was getting passed and went high to give the other car
room... He could not get the car to turn and struck the wall coming out of turn four.. He bent a lot of front end parts
and went to the pits for repairs and went back out to finish seventh...The next race for him will be April 12.... There
are currently no races planned for Josh Sr...............We will let you know as soon as we find sponsors to put him back
on the track.

March 16 -
Lanier Speedway held a Sunday afternoon race and Big Josh took the racecar out to try the new motor.
He started out with a forth place finish in the heat race and that put him outside second row for the feature.. Once the
green flag dropped Josh drove the car as hard as it would let him, but the motor was just not up to speed.. It ran hot
and just didn't have the horsepower needed to win the race.. He drove the old #5 to a fifth place finish.. We are now
in the process of putting together another motor and we are in need of sponsors.... So if you would like to help out
please contact us via email...... Joshua Jr. is all set to hit the track at
Lanier's quarter midget track.  He is moving up a
class this year so he will have his work cut out for him this season...

February 2008-  The cold winter finally let up so we could do some testing at the
Lanier Speedway quarter midget
track.  We started out by changing the gear and running a blue restrictor plate.. Joshua Jr. was pretty fast
considering he has not sat in it since November.. We plan on making a few other adjustments before we go back to
practice and the first race will be in March. Josh Sr. has been working on the big car in recent days.. We have put a
new motor in and made some other improvements as well. We know that 2008 will be a big year for Hughes Racing
as we plan to add a couple more tracks to the schedule. Also Danyel will make some appearances in the car this
year.. We will try and keep everyone up to date on where, who, and when we will be racing.  If anyone is interested
in sponsoring us we will gladly display your name or logo on our cars.. Thanks for checking in and feel free to leave
us an email to let us know what you think........

October 27-  Well now that the racing season has ended for Josh Sr. it was back to the Lanier Speedway quarter
midget track.  Josh Jr. has been improving with each race and is just about ready to move up out of Jr. Novice.  He
has been practicing with a larger restrictor plate and seems to be doing well.  What might have been his last race in
Jr. Novice, Joshua made the most of it.  He did not get a good start in the main and fell in behind the leader.  With the
race being 25 laps he needed to make a move fast.  He worked on the leader lap after lap and finally with a few laps
remaining he made his move coming off turn two and picked up the win..Way to go Joshua!!!  We now have one race
remaining which is on Nov.17 at Lanier Speedway.  We are trying to put together some sponsors for both cars in
2008.  All businesses are welcome so if you are interested please contact us so you can join the team..Any form of
sponsorship will be helpful and we will proudly display your name on our cars, trailer, and driver uniforms. Thanks
again for everyone who supports us and see you at the races...........

September 29 - SIX IN A ROW!!!!!! Yes Josh took home the win in the Georgia State Championship race.  With a last
minute decision to run the race it payed off and ended the season on a winning note.  We were hoping for a larger
field of cars, but the
Lanier Speedway regulars were on hand and they put on a good show.  Plans are in the works
for next year and we will keep everyone posted as soon as we finalize things.  We have a couple of quarter midget
races left so check the site often to get dates on upcoming events.  Josh would like to send his thanks to all the
competitors that competed against him this year and drove him clean. He looks forward to competing with them
again in the future.  Thanks again to all the fans, our family and track personnel who made this year a success......

September 22 - Little Josh raced at
MAQMA this weekend. He didn't do so in qualifying having trouble with his cart.
But easily fixed he went out for his heat race. Making some changes to his cart he had a difficult time keeping all four
wheels going in the right direction. But that was all corrected come his feature and he had a great race. And with him
being the only cart in the Junior Novice division he took home another win! We are going to get him out there to
practice with the bigger restrictor plate so he can move up a class and have some competitors to run with.

September 15 - FIVE IN A ROW!!!!! Josh made it five out of five in the Fall Classic at
Lanier Speedway this weekend.
We made some changes to the car this week and Josh turned the fastest laps so far in hot laps.  Anytime you are
fast in practice it gives you a lot of confidence going into the feature.  Once the green flag dropped Josh wasted no
time driving by cars on the outside.  Once out front he would never be challenged and added another victory to his
resume.  It was the last points race for the year and ended a perfect season..  We will now turn our focus to Josh Jr.
As he finishes up his season in the quarter midget.  Come on out this weekend and join us for the grand opening at
Lanier's quarter midget track -
Metro Atlanta Quarter Midget Association. We would like to thank everyone who has
come out and supported us and all the new fans we have made at
Lanier Speedway this year... We hope to be just as
competitive next year... We will keep everyone posted on our next race and what plans we have for the 08'
season.................Go JOSHUA!!!

September 8 - We were back in action at
Lanier Speedway this week and we had a large field of cars for the first time
in awhile.  Josh started in 11th and had to work his way to the front in only 20 laps.  He made pass after pass till he
got to 3rd and stayed there most of the race until the final lap turn 4 he drove under the 2nd place car and beat him
across the stripe to take 2nd.  After going to the tech area it was discovered that the 1st place car was running illegal
parts and Josh was awarded the win.  What a night we had.  That makes it 4 wins in a row.  Come join us next week
at
Lanier Speedway as it will be the last points race of the year.  Maybe we can make it 5 out of 5......... Go Josh Go

August 31 - Well we had a big weekend of racing planned only to have it wiped out.  We found out Monday that
Anderson Speedway called there Friday night races off due to the Labor Day weekend. We were really looking
forward to running there for the first time.  So then we were counting on running
Lanier Speedway Sat. night only to
another win home... Come on out Sept. 8 and cheer for the Hughes Racing Team......

August 25 - Little Josh was the only one in action this week at the
MAQMA track.  We went and practiced Friday night
and made a few changes to the car only to change them again before race morning.  He turned some faster lap times
this week and the car handled good.  There still hasn't been any other Junior Novice drivers so he has been using
the races as practice.  Dad doesn't let him off easy as he pushes Little Josh to run harder and find a good line to run.
Keep up the good work Joshua and see you in the winner's circle........

August 18 - It was back to
Lanier Speedway to try our luck once again.  Little Josh had the week off so it would be up
to Big Josh to bring home the hardware.  He pulled onto the track and would have to start from the rear since he won
the week before.  Once the green flag dropped he started picking cars off and after a couple laps was in 3rd.  He put
some pressure on the 2nd place car and was able to get by after a few laps.  Then he had to catch the leader who
had a couple of car lengths on him.  Finally he caught him and was able to take the lead and never look back... The
celebration in victory lane was quite unique as he did the usual burn out, then got out of the car and got on the roof
to take the pictures.  But he wasn't finished yet as he ran and climbed the fence Tony Stewart style.. We would like
to thank all our fans and everyone who came out to support the races.  Our next race will be Aug. 25 at Lanier's
quarter midget track (
Metro Atlanta Quarter Midget Association).  So come on out and join the fun..............Go Little
Josh!!!

August 11 - Well we started the day off at the new quarter midget track at Lanier Speedway -
Metro Atlanta Quarter
Midget. Joshua Jr. hit the track for the first time and turned some pretty good lap times considering he has not raced
it in five months.  There were no other Junior novice drivers on hand so when it came time to race he ran his laps
and finished the day with some good lap times and had a lot of fun.  We all had a much better experience with this
new track and hopefully we will continue to do so.  Then it was off to the big track so Big Josh could get his thrill of
the day.  There was not a large field of cars so it did not take Josh long to find his way to the front.  Once he got the
lead he would never be pressured and cruised to another victory.  The boys were there for this race and were very
excited to see their daddy in victory lane.  Big Josh's younger brothers were here from Florida so they got to join in
on the celebration as well.  We now plan to start racing some other tracks, so we will keep everyone posted on
where we will be next.  Thanks for everyone who came out and supported the races and cheered for the Hughes
Racing Team..............

July- Big Josh has bought a new race car. A Monte Carlo to run at
Lanier Speedway. First night out with the car Josh
took home a win. Joshua and Jarrett have had a big summer. Joshua went to summer camp in FL, and Jarrett went
and stayed with his grandma in FL. Then they both went to TX to stay with their Nana. So needless to say a busy
summer and still more racing and wins to come.

June- Lil' Josh started the summer out bad by breaking his arm. But thank goodness for waterproof casts for it has
not slowed him down much at all. We sold the Camaro and now in search of a new race car.

May 5 - We got the car back together and took it back to
Lavonia Speedway.  We had a few problems during the
night.  First off the temp sending unit was leaking, then the power steering line had a crack in it.  Also during warm
ups the track was so slick Josh bumped the wall with minor damage.  After fixing the problems it was time for the
feature.  Things went OK as far as the motor goes,  but the car was not handling very well.  We spent so much time
at home and the track working on the motor that we could not put much time into the handling.  Josh drove it to the
best of his ability and after working lap after lap on 4th place ended up 5th.  Plans for the next race are in the works.

April- Well we got the motor to the machine shop.  After rebuilding the entire motor we feel like we will be stronger
than we were before it broke.  Now its time to put it all back together. (Fun, Fun)

March 31 - Josh Sr. started the racing season at
Lavonia Speedway. Starting out with a strong 2nd place finish in the
heat race. With the feature coming up we discovered that the motor was not running on all eight cylinders.  We went
ahead and started the race from the back of the pack and ended up 6th place.  We felt like we had a chance at the win
but could not overcome the mechanical problem.  Once we got the car home we tore the motor down only to
discover that the piston was broke.  So now we will be rebuilding or even replacing the motor. (donations welcome)
We will let everyone know the progress as soon as we can.

March - We're getting ready for the new racing season. Joshua is starting to practice his Quarter Midget. Josh is
doing the final touches on his car to have it ready for dirt racing this year. We bought a 28' enclosed trailer to haul the
Quarter Midget and race car. Jarrett has started driving the four wheeler by himself and boy is he wide open.
Basketball season is over, it was very fun working with the kids. Now we're coaching Tee Ball and games will start in
April along with racing.

February - We've had an exciting month with Basketball. Josh and I are coaching Joshua's instructional basketball
team this season. Tee Ball is coming up in March. Joshua's Quarter Midget is in the process of having a new body
put on it. Big Josh is getting his car ready to race Lavonia Speedway's dirt track this season. Pictures have been
added to our site at the bottom of each page you will see More Pictures, this takes you to all of our family pictures.
We hope you enjoy the website and hope you check back soon.v
Bryan intentionally trying to wreck another car!!!

Bryan intentionally spinning Josh out the first time!!!
Bryan intentionally running Josh into the wall!!!
